Hi Everyone!
I am so excited to be teaching the Second Grade this year. It was a great first day! There are many wonderful things to look forward to in Second Grade. For example, students will receive 2 beautiful sacraments, Reconciliation and First Communion this year. In ELA we'll be reading and listening to stories of various genre, including informational text, and fiction along with writing, to enrich learning and comprehension.
Reading brings worlds and information right to our fingertips. We'll work on fluency, phonics, vocabulary as well. This year we'll continue to grow in our Chromebook skills. We'll continue to use the i-ready program, working to our potential and growing along the way. We'll find magic in Math as we find patterns and tricks to work with numbers, identify relationships with numbers, practice facts, and use manipulatives to find and explain our outcomes. We'll find themes and topics in Science and Social Studies that connect subjects to one another, bringing excitement and life to places and science we haven't known before.
In general, you can find homework assignments in your child's Homework notebook and on this class page. Information to reinforce classwork, provide handouts and communicate with you can be found on the Google Classroom. We'll be using this all year. If there are any changes to your child's transportation plans, please send in a note each day that it is effective. If there are any absences, please send in a note, regardless of whether or not you called the school.
A few packets went home on the first day of school that has alot of helpful information for you to refer to all year. Looking forward to a great year.
Here we go!
