    • Why St. Martin of Tours?

Founded by the Dominican Sisters a century ago, St. Martin of Tours School is steeped in tradition, service, faith, and family. Our School Motto-"Believe and Become" reminds us that we believe in God, ourselves, and one another.  We know that when we Believe in them, each child Becomes their best possible self. At SMT, we are here to offer support, education, and encouragement as the student journeys towards their full potential.

      100 years of educating children,
100 years of sharing Christian values
      100 years of family

      Won't you join us?

    • What You Can Expect at Our School:

      • Culture – Our school cultivates a robustly Catholic Culture centered on the spiritual, intellectual, sacramental, and liturgical life of the Church.

      • Supportive Community – Our school provides a safe and supportive community that recognizes the dignity of every student and promotes human flourishing in a familial atmosphere.

      • Academic Excellence – Our school offers academic excellence, which will foster in your child individual growth and development according to time-tested, faith-based models of teaching and learning.

    • How Our School Responded to COVID-19 and Thrived in Difficult Times:

      • Technology – During the lockdown of 2020-2021, we quickly provided tools for remote learning to our students. When students at other schools struggled, the students at our school excelled.

      • Servant Leadership – In 2020-2021, our teachers believed students and families were their #1 priority making sure each student received classwork and support in the most challenging of circumstances. Now, they continue to make students and families their #1 priority.

      • Safe Classroom Learning – We all know that young students learn better in a classroom with their peers. We have an impressive student-to-teacher ratio and spacious classrooms. This allowed us to bring back all students for full 5-day in-person learning for the 2020-2021 school year when most schools in Long Island remained closed. For the 2022-2023 school year, our students continue to thrive.

    • What academics does your school offer? How do your academics compare to public schools?

We offer Religion, Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, Technology, Art, Physical Education, Music, Library, and Spanish. We also offer 2 Regent Classes to 8th graders to get regents credits (Algebra 1, Living Environment).

      • We offer the same academic courses and follow the same NYS Learning Standards as public schools in our area.
      • We also follow NYS Learning Standards and adhere to the same testing as public schools. (NYS Standardized Testing in Grades 4 and 6, Regents exams).
      • However, we also are guided by the Diocese of Rockville Center, educating our children in Catholicism and the belief in treating others with dignity and respect.

One tool we have that is unique to Catholic education is i-Ready assessments/diagnostics three times a year to see student growth and needs.

    • What is your school’s class size?

Our smaller class sizes allow for more personalized instruction and attention. Parents who transfer their children out of public school and into SMT always comment on our smaller class sizes. Our enrollment is growing, but know that we split classes as we near our max.
    • Tell me about After Care and Before Care.

Before Care and After Care are open to all our students: Nursery-8th Grade. We provide snack, homework help, educational games, iPads, Chromebooks, and peace of mind for working parents. Every After Care session has two teachers or aides.

Many families take advantage of this, especially families that work later hours and need that extra time to get home. There is a fee for Before Care as well as After Care.  There is also a discounted price for siblings.
    • Do you offer sports? Extracurricular activities?

We participate in the CMSAA league and offer basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, lacrosse, and volleyball. For most sports, we have boys, girls, or co-ed teams. Extracurricular activities are offered and can change year-to-year based on student interest. Currently, we have Recorder Club, Art Club, STEM cCub, Fitness Club, Technology Club, and many more.
    • Is tuition paid all at once, or can I make payments? Do you offer financial aid?

We offer discounts for families who enroll multiple children. Tuition can be paid monthly over a 10 month period. However, there are discounts when paid in a lump sum.

The Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation offers scholarships for many of our students. All families are encouraged to apply for Tomorrow's Hope!
